I think it’s really interesting how in “Rise” Beckett was just getting settled back into the precinct. At that point in time, she didn’t care that she had just barely escaped death one more time. All she wanted to do was catch her sniper and her mother’s killer, with or without Castle right at her side. She didn’t even care if she died in the process of it all. Now, in “Always,” she’s clearing her things and leaving the precinct because she’s willing to give up solving her mom’s murder and getting revenge for her shooting. She wants to live. The character progression is astounding. She’s closing this chapter in her life to start a new one…with Castle. Because that’s what all the great love stories are about, right? Beating the odds.
